The Museum District is located in downtown Houston, situated between Montrose, Rice University, and the Texas Medical Center. Conveniently located near several metro stops and major roads, it is an ideal place to begin any trip to Houston or spend the day near home, and the museums are so diverse that there is something for everyone of all ages and interests just waiting to be explored. Plans for the area began in 1977 and it was formally recognized in 1989. Ever since it has been growing in popularity.
