Greta Pontarelli - The Interview
Greta Pontarelli is one of the most inspirational women in Pole today. With some impressive titles, including 2014 IPSF World Masters Champion, 2013 IPC World Pole Art Masters Champion - and all won over the age of 60 - we were excited to talk to her at Pole Dance Fitness & Aerial Arts in this issue.
Deadlift Handstand
This month’s inspirational cover feature is Greta Pontarelli, the 63 year old pole dancer, teacher and competitor who has taken the world by storm. Her champion lesson is the Deadlift Handstand. Although it is easier to practice the handstand up against the wall at first, Greta takes us through the move step by step on the pole.
Tuck Drop / Sad Girl Drop
This is a really dramatic drop, especially if you are working on tall poles! It’s actually quite easy once you’re comfortable in your inner thighs. It’s an impressive move that’s a real crowd pleaser, and once you get the hang of the grips in your body. It’s exciting on tall poles, but still works fantastically on shorter poles.
Russian Climb and Hip Lock
Aerial silks burns calories, tones, builds upper body strength and core muscles, improves flexibility and posture. If you have not already followed the beginners routine featured in our previous issues, then please refer back and make sure you are comfortable with these moves before trying this intermediate, unless you are at the appropriate level already. Always remember to train safe!
