Marc Miller – Seeker. Storyteller. Happiness Coach.

My name is Marc Miller, and I’m the founder of The Gunnar Project and publisher of Happiness Quarterly. But more than titles or accomplishments, I consider myself a seeker—a student of life still learning how to be present, how to love deeply, and how to live a life that actually matters.

This journey didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with heartbreak.

Over a decade ago, my 19-year-old son Gunnar died unexpectedly. The grief was crushing. The loss unspeakable. And in the stillness that followed, I began to see just how distracted, disconnected, and distant many of us have become—not just from each other, but from ourselves.

We chase happiness like a prize: one more thing to buy, to click, to achieve. But the more we chase, the emptier we feel. And somewhere deep inside, we all know: this isn’t it.

That’s why I started The Gunnar Project—a movement to redefine happiness for a generation that’s forgotten what it truly is. Not dopamine highs. Not fast likes. But happ(i)ness—what we call Deep Happy. The kind that’s built, not bought. Felt, not faked. Shared, not sold.

Happ(i)ness is what we feel when we care for our bodies, grow our minds, show up in love, and serve a purpose greater than ourselves. It’s what our brains reward us with—serotonin—when we give, connect, move, rest, forgive, and live aligned.

Through speaking engagements, workshops, and now this magazine, I’ve shared this message with over 9,000 people across the country—students, parents, executives, and elders. And it’s always the same: people aren’t craving more content. They’re craving more connection. They want to feel alive again.

That’s why I launched Happiness Quarterly—to help us remember.

To help us return.

Each issue brings together voices from all walks of life—neuroscientists, former soldiers, relationship coaches, fitness experts, philosophers, and everyday people—who’ve learned something true. Something useful. Something worth sharing.

This isn’t a feel-good magazine. It’s a field guide. A journal for those training for joy. A workbook for those teaching their children and grandchildren what matters. A bridge between science and spirit. Discipline and wonder. Warrior and monk.

In these pages, I hope you’ll find more than tips. I hope you’ll find yourself—the part of you that’s been waiting for quiet. For clarity. For meaning. And maybe, like me, you’ll discover that Deep Happy isn’t out there. It’s been in you all along.

So welcome. Thank you for being here.

And most of all—thank you for seeking.

Seek. See. Seize. Happ(i)ness.
